C:\Cornflower\about.txt

A short file on a long habit

About this journal.

readme.txt

One desk. One notebook. A stubborn refusal to optimize either.

Cornflower started as a drawer of unsent letters and a camera that mostly photographed weather. At some point the drawer filled up, and putting the pages somewhere felt more honest than pretending they were private.

Nothing here is in a hurry. Entries are posted when they stop arguing back, which has never once happened on a schedule.

House rules

01

Write it down before it’s polished.

A bad sentence on paper beats a perfect one still in your head. Every entry here started worse than what you read.

02

Notice on purpose.

Most days don’t announce themselves. The practice is showing up for the unremarkable ones with a pen anyway.

03

Keep the slow channel open.

Letters, long walks, second cups. The journal is a defense of every format the feed forgot.

04

Publish anyway.

Done is a courtesy to the reader. Perfect is a stalling tactic dressed as a standard.

Version history

1995

The first notebook. Spiral-bound, water-damaged, indefensible handwriting. Still the best one.

2009

Letters start going unsent on purpose. The drawer era begins.

2021

A borrowed scanner and a free weekend. The drawer becomes a folder.

2026

The folder becomes this. The handwriting did not improve.

start_here

Start with the fog entry. Most people do.

Or write first and read later — the contact page accepts letters in any state of finish.
